| Project Detail : | The Standing Committee of Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has approved development projects worth Rs 470 crore in its final meeting before the upcoming civic body elections. The approved works focus on infrastructure upgrades and improved public utilities across multiple wards in Rajkot. Among the key projects is the construction of a new road linking Raiya Road with the Smart City area to provide an alternative route for commuters and reduce congestion on existing arterial roads. The committee also sanctioned widening and upgrading of the heavily used New Ring Road, which currently faces issues of narrow carriageways and potholes. To improve civic services in newly developed areas, the committee approved the construction of urban health centres in localities such as SRP Camp and Manharpur. Renovation of the old Jubilee vegetable market was also cleared to enhance market infrastructure and facilities. The committee further approved the appointment of a consultant to carry out regular inspections of underpasses and overbridges across the city to ensure structural safety and timely maintenance. Additionally, a new fire station will be constructed behind the Aji Dam traffic police station. The facility will accommodate six fire tenders and include a workshop and control room, along with 64 residential flats for fire department officers and staff above the station. |
