Project Title :PMC approves Rs 135.57-cr water scheme for Keshavnagar-Mundhwa area
Company Name : Pune Municipal Corporation
Project Detail :The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved a Rs 135.57 crore water supply scheme aimed at improving infrastructure in the Keshavnagar–Mundhwa area, which has been facing persistent water shortages.
The decision was cleared by the Standing Committee, with Chairman Srinath Bhimale stating that the project is necessary to address the growing demand caused by rapid urbanisation. Keshavnagar, one of the 34 newly merged villages, has seen significant population growth in recent years, putting pressure on the existing water system. Currently, many parts of the area depend heavily on water tankers, with around 30 to 35 tankers deployed daily to meet basic needs. The new scheme is designed to provide a long-term solution by strengthening the water supply network.
Key components of the project include laying a 6.19 km main water pipeline, installing a 600-kilowatt pumping system, and developing an extensive distribution network covering about 71.5 km. Additionally, six elevated water reservoirs with capacities ranging from 2.5 to 3.5 million litres will be constructed. These measures are expected to significantly improve water availability and reduce dependence on tanker supply in the region.
