| Project Detail : | The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has approved the construction of 18,123 houses in urban areas of Telangana under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U). The proposals were cleared by the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee. The total project cost is estimated at Rs 910.65 crore, with the central government contributing Rs 273.2 crore and the state government funding Rs 637.45 crore. The committee has recommended the release of Rs 109.27 crore as the first installment of Central assistance. The housing units will be developed under 118 beneficiary-led construction projects and are expected to be completed within 12 to 18 months. Each beneficiary household will receive Rs 1.5 lakh from the Centre and Rs 3.5 lakh from the state, totaling Rs five lakh per house. During the review, the Committee noted that only 72 percent of previously completed houses have been occupied and advised the state government to improve occupancy. It also urged the submission of pending utilisation certificates and the remaining housing proposals to meet the target for March 2026. |
