Project Title :ASTL gets interim licence for ERGS-I transmission project in Odisha
Company Name : Central Electricity Regulatory Commission
Project Detail :The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has recently granted an interim transmission licence to Angul Sundargarh Transmission (ASTL) for developing an interstate transmission system (ISTS) scheme in Odisha under the TBCB framework.
The project, called the “Eastern Region Generation Scheme – I” (ERGS-I), is being developed by ASTL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of HG Infra Engineering, to provide ISTS connectivity for the upcoming 3×800 MW Talabira power generation plant of NLC India. In its order, CERC has instructed ASTL to issue a public notice inviting objections or suggestions on the transmission licence, with any responses to be filed by February 24, 2026. The matter will then be taken up for hearing on February 26.
ERGS-I is a moderately-sized project, estimated at Rs 413 crore, and involves constructing a LILO (line-in-line-out) of both circuits of the existing 765kV Angul-Sundargarh lines at the Talabira generation switchyard. The total transmission length is 100 circuit kilometers, and the project is scheduled for completion by March 2028. Once operational, it will strengthen Odisha’s power transmission network and support timely evacuation of electricity from the Talabira plant.
