Project Title :Jorhat-Jhanji four-lane highway nears completion with 97 percent progress in Assam
Company Name : Private Company
Project Detail :The much-delayed four-lane NH-37 highway project between Jorhat and Jhanji in Assam is nearing completion, with 97 percent physical progress achieved, according to Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Jay Shivani. During a detailed site inspection on 10 June, 2025, he, accompanied by officials from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL), reviewed the remaining work and directed acceleration in two critical segments — the Bhogdoi and Jhanji river bridges.
Spanning 37.8 km, the highway includes 36.8 km in Jorhat district, and one km in neighbouring Sivasagar. With a total investment of Rs 738.15 crore, the project also involves construction of a modern toll plaza to streamline traffic and revenue collection. The construction has been split across four packages handled by three contractors: Sadguru Engineers is responsible for 10 km and the toll plaza, Binni Construction for 14 km, and MP Agarwala for the remaining 13.8 km.
Initiated with the foundation stone laid by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in February, 2016, the project has experienced delays due to cost and time overruns. The project is in its final stage, and efforts are being made to complete it promptly.
