| Project Title : | Nagpur to expedite construction of two new sewage treatment plants in Maharashtra |
| Company Name : | Private Company |
| Project Detail : | In a major step toward curbing pollution in the Nag River, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari have directed city authorities to expedite the construction of two sewage treatment plants (STPs) at VNIT and Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) in Nagpur. At a review meeting on the Nag River Pollution Abatement Project, CM Fadnavis proposed adopting the Dharavi model—known for high-efficiency sewage treatment in limited space, for both STPs. “The plants should be compact yet high-capacity like those in Mumbai’s Dharavi,” he emphasised. Supporting the plan, Minister Nitin Gadkari urged Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to submit its technical report swiftly to fast-track implementation. The STPs aim to halt untreated sewage from flowing directly into the river, a long-standing concern affecting public health and the environment. Beyond the STPs, the leaders reviewed other urban infrastructure issues. The CM has ordered a fresh detailed project report (DPR) aligned with the city’s growth. |
