| Project Detail : | ICICI Bank has pledged over Rs 550 crore to establish a new cancer care facility at the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The initiative, in partnership with the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), is part of an expanded Rs 1,800 crore contribution by the bank. The proposed eight-storey "ICICI Foundation Block for Child and Blood Cancer" will cover 3.9 lakh sq. ft. and accommodate over 215 beds. It is expected to treat around 3,000 patients annually and be completed by 2027, pending approvals. This facility will significantly strengthen HBCHRC’s capacity, which currently caters to 6,200 patients. The CSR arm of ICICI Bank, ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, will lead the implementation of the project. ICICI Bank Chairman Pradeep Kumar Sinha stated, “We are honoured to partner with TMC in a mission towards cancer care. This project reflects our commitment to enabling accessible and high-quality medical care.” TMC Director Sudeep Gupta and HBCHRC Director Umesh Mahantshetty also acknowledged the importance of the partnership. Girish Chinnaswamy from Tata Memorial Hospital noted that the new block will enable the hospital to expand bone marrow transplant services and initiate immunotherapy for paediatric and haematolymphoid cancers. |
