| Company Name : | Private Company |
| Project Detail : | The Central government plans to introduce an additional viability gap funding (VGF) of Rs 5,400 crore to support the development of 30 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced. This new package adds to the existing Rs 3,700 crore incentive for 13.2 GWh of BESS currently under implementation, aiming to attract Rs 33,000 crore in private investments. The VGF will be disbursed from the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) and allocated across 15 states (25 GWh) and NTPC (five GWh). The first tender is expected within three months. The Centre has also extended the 100 percent waiver on inter-state transmission (ISTS) charges for BESS and pumped storage projects commissioned before June 30, 2028. Additionally, Rs 53,000 crore will be invested in rolling out Ultra High Voltage Alternating Current (UHVAC) transmission infrastructure, with nine 1,100 kV lines identified for development by 2034. To expedite infrastructure rollout, the Right of Way (RoW) compensation was revised, increasing tower area compensation to 200 percent of land value and RoW corridor compensation to 30 percent. |
