| Project Detail : | In a strategic move to bolster its semiconductor ecosystem, the Odisha government has proposed establishing a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Semiconductors at IIIT Bhubaneswar. Supported by the Electronics and Information Technology (E&IT) department, the initiative aims to enhance the state’s capabilities in semiconductor research, development, manufacturing, and advanced skill-building. The decision follows Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s directive to involve IIIT Bhubaneswar, given the surge in industry interest post the state’s recent push for an electronics manufacturing ecosystem. The CoE will focus on advanced training, R&D, and innovation in semiconductor technologies. The state will extend financial and administrative support, and IIIT has been asked to submit a detailed proposal by June 30. Additionally, post-graduate diploma and certificate courses are expected to start from the 2026–27 academic year. The initiative will complement the state's O-Chip programme and its Semiconductor Manufacturing and Fabless Policy. |
