| Project Title : | Indian Railways to roll out 100 MEMU, and 50 Namo Bharat trains |
| Company Name : | Indian Railways |
| Project Detail : | In a significant development for short-and-medium-distance rail travel, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that Indian Railways will introduce 100 next-generation mainline electric multiple unit (MEMU) trains, and 50 additional Namo Bharat trains. The MEMU trains, known for their efficiency on non-urban and semi-urban routes, will be manufactured at a new factory in Kazipet, Telangana. With their increased capacity, they are expected to accommodate higher passenger loads, particularly during festive seasons. Additionally, the fleet of Namo Bharat trains—fully air-conditioned trains designed for short intercity routes—will be expanded following positive responses to their deployment on the Ahmedabad-Bhuj and Jayanagar-Patna routes. These 50 new Namo Bharat trains will enhance passenger convenience and support India's rail modernisation efforts. The move underscores Indian Railways’ commitment to improving connectivity, efficiency, and comfort in the country’s transportation infrastructure. |
