| Project Title : | Delhi Govt allocates Rs 820 cr to MCD, includes biomining operations |
| Company Name : | Municipal Corporation Of Delhi |
| Project Detail : | The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has received Rs 820 crore from Delhi government as the first instalment under the Basic Tax Assignment for the financial year 2025–26, following recommendations of the Fifth Delhi Finance Commission. This allocation represents six percent of the government’s net tax revenue and is categorised as an untied grant, giving MCD full discretion over its usage across civic functions. The fund will support debt clearance, improve public infrastructure, and enhance waste management and governance in the capital. In addition, the Delhi government sanctioned Rs 50.78 crore for biomining operations at three landfill sites—Okhla (Rs 20.25 crore), Bhalswa (Rs 20.75 crore), and Ghazipur (Rs 9.77 crore). These funds, revalidated from previous unspent allocations, aim to accelerate waste processing and reduce garbage mounds, reaffirming MCD’s commitment to robust urban governance. Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh assured citizens and councillors that there would be no shortage of funds for public welfare. The mayor also pledged focused efforts toward making Delhi cleaner and more sustainable. |
