Project Detail :The Telangana government has announced plans to develop an 80-acre eco-town inspired by the Japanese city of Kitakyushu, with a focus on sustainable development and future-ready infrastructure. State Minister for Information Technology and Industries, D Sridhar Babu, made the announcement at the “From Kitakyushu to Telangana: Catalysing Sustainable Industrial Growth” conference held in Hyderabad.
The eco-town development stems from a mutual cooperation agreement signed between Telangana and Kitakyushu, which will serve as a strategic roadmap for the project. “This partnership is part of our broader goal to integrate clean technologies, digital innovation, and circular economy principles into urban development,” Sridhar Babu said. He also noted that Telangana has attracted investments worth Rs three lakh crore in the past 18 months and is actively encouraging Japanese investments.
As part of the collaboration, Telangana and Kitakyushu will work together on Net Zero targets, riverfront development, and sustainable industrial growth.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy welcomed the cooperation agreement, expressing confidence that it will foster inclusive economic growth, urban innovation, and a zero-emission ecosystem in Telangana.
