Company Name : Private Company
Project Detail :The Brahmaputra riverfront development project in Guwahati, inspired by Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Riverfront, is nearing completion and promises to significantly enhance urban life along the city’s riverside. The 1.2-km stretch along the south bank of the Brahmaputra, from DC Bungalow to Kacharighat, is being developed by Guwahati Smart City (GSCL) and is part of a broader six-km vision extending to the Kamakhya temple.
The project forms a segment of a broader six-km vision stretching from Raj Bhawan to the Kamakhya temple. The Panbazar segment, was inaugurated on 20 January, 2024, by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This area features the Mahabahu Brahmaputra Heritage Centre and Padum Pukhuri pond.
Estimated at Rs 69.85 crore, the project integrates urban beautification with ecological restoration. Design elements include gabion terraces for groundwater recharge, native vegetation, water lily revival, and riparian landscaping. A 15-mtrs.-wide boulevard, jogging and cycling tracks, themed gardens (fragrance, zen, edible), children's play areas, and landscaped gardens are also being introduced. The remaining portion of the riverfront is expected to open soon.
