| Project Detail : | The Assam Cabinet has cleared the allotment of a self-identified 900 MW off-stream pumped storage project (PSP) site in West Karbi Anglong district to Hinduja Renewables Energy, with an estimated investment of Rs 5,400 crore. The project is a major step toward achieving the state's target of two GW PSP capacity by 2030 and aims to ensure grid stability and energy security by storing excess power during low demand and releasing it during peak hours. Additionally, the Cabinet approved the creation of a Rs 3,000 crore SEBI-registered Assam Industrial and Green Growth Fund, an Alternate Investment Fund, with an Anchor Investment of Rs 500 crore in phases. The fund will channel long-term capital into renewable energy, green infrastructure, startups, agro-tech, tourism, MSMEs, and other priority sectors. Other decisions include the approval of the ‘Shradhanjali’ scheme, offering dignified transport of deceased Assamese youth from other states, and the notification of Urpad Beel (1256 Ha) and Hasila Beel (245 Ha) in Goalpara as Proposed Reserve Forests (PRF) to conserve ecologically sensitive wetlands under the Assam Forest Regulation, 1891. |
