Project Title :Delhi to build three new water treatment plants, pipeline & dams
Company Name : Delhi Jal Board
Project Detail :The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has announced plans to construct three new water treatment plants to improve the capital's water supply. The facilities will be located in Iradat Nagar (near Narela), Najafgarh (south-west Delhi), and Chhatarpur (south Delhi).
These plants will collectively add 235 million gallons per day (MGD) of treated water to Delhi’s network—80 MGD each from Iradat Nagar and Chhatarpur, and 75 MGD from Najafgarh.
To support these plants, the DJB plans to source water from dams proposed in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. A dam on the Giri River in Himachal Pradesh is expected to supply 275 MGD to Delhi. For this, DJB has already paid Rs 214.84 crore to Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation (HPPCL).
Further contributions include Rs 8.1 crore for the Kishau Dam on the Tons River, and Rs 7.7 crore for the Lakhwar Vyasi Dam on the Yamuna River, both in Uttarakhand.
DJB will also execute a Rs 300-crore project to lay an 11-km pipeline from Haiderpur Plant to Wazirabad barrage to tackle ammonia-induced supply disruptions.
