| Project Title : | Urban recreational zone project worth Rs 200-cr in Bhubaneswar approved |
| Company Name : | Bhubaneswar Development Authority |
| Project Detail : | Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) will transform a three-km stretch along Storm Water Channel 10 - including BDA City Centre (formerly Nicco Park) and the Lake Zone near Janpath, into a recreational zone at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore. The project has received approval from the Odisha government following a review by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi last month. BDA Vice-Chairman N Thirumala Naik confirmed that a detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared and submitted soon for government funding. The redevelopment plan will revamp the natural drain stretch from the BDA City Centre to the proposed Lake Zone, integrating ecological restoration with modern urban design. The first phase will focus on upgrading BDA City Centre with enhanced lighting, landscaping, herbal gardens, an Ayurvedic park, pedestrian pathways, foot overbridges, fine-dining restaurants, and hotels. A senior official added that the project will also revive the long-delayed Lake Neutral project near Satya Nagar. Additional features will include a wastewater treatment facility, public recreational spaces, roadside gardens, and extensive plantation, turning the corridor into a vibrant urban green zone. The initiative aims to boost Bhubaneswar’s liveability and provide residents with a modern, eco-friendly public space. |
