| Project Detail : | Chief Minister M K Stalin has announced a series of major infrastructure projects for Thanjavur district on 16 June, 2025. A key highlight is the construction of a new bridge at the Vettaru-Vadavaru River Head (VVR head) in Thenperambur village, with an allocated budget of Rs 42 crore. Among the other significant projects is the widening of the Grand Anaicut canal road between Eachangkottai and Vettikkadu, set to cost Rs 40 crore. In addition, the Uyyakondan extension canal, which serves several villages in Budalur taluk, will be renovated at a cost of Rs 15 crore. Further boosting agricultural infrastructure, a large warehouse for paddy will be established in Naduvur at a cost of Rs 170 crore. CM Stalin also announced the development of new SIPCOT industrial estates in Palayappati and Rajamadam to encourage industrial growth. For the fishing community, a new jetty will be constructed at Eripurakkarai and Keezhathottam, at an estimated cost of Rs 32 crore. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated buildings constructed at a cost of Rs 326 crore and laid foundation stones for new projects worth Rs 309 crore. He also launched welfare schemes benefiting 2.25 lakh people at a cost of Rs 558 crore. |
