| Project Detail : | In a move to elevate Goa's cultural and tourism landscape, the state government has announced the Rs 120.97 crore Town Square project in Porvorim. Approved by the Cabinet, the initiative is set to transform 11,000 sq. mtrs. into a vibrant, community-centric space. It will include themed courts such as the market court, welcome court, fountain court, movie court, heritage court, an Ashoka Stambh, and a clock tower. The project is designed to promote year-round cultural activities and offer platforms for local artisans and entrepreneurs. President Droupadi Murmu, who attended the event, urged both residents and tourists to respect and preserve Goa’s rich cultural heritage. Tourism Minister Rohan A Khaunte emphasised the Town Square as a symbol of Goa's progressive vision, fusing tradition with modern infrastructure to boost cultural tourism. Over the past three years, nearly Rs 400 crore worth of tourism infrastructure has been sanctioned in Goa, focusing on ecotourism, wellness, adventure tourism, and MICE. |
