| Company Name : | Government Of Bihar |
| Project Detail : | The Bihar government has urged the Railway Board to initiate six key railway infrastructure projects to strengthen the state's rail connectivity and meet growing demands. In a letter to Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena highlighted the urgent need for expanding the railway network, citing the state's high population density of 1,388 people per sq. km in 2024 - 289.5 percent above the national average. He pointed out that Bihar has just 5.31 km of railway track per lakh of population, compared to the national average of 9.81 km. The Chief Secretary proposed the construction of additional rail lines and a new bridge over the Ganga River between Ara and Chapra to improve connectivity between the Shahabad and Saran regions. He also demanded a circular train service on the Buddhist Circuit Rail Corridor to benefit pilgrims and local commuters. Further, he suggested the development of South and North Bihar Suburban Transport Networks and a Patna Regional Transport Network to improve connectivity between Patna and its surrounding satellite towns. Additionally, he called for the early sanction of third and fourth railway lines on the DDU Junction–Kiul section and assured full state support for the implementation of these projects. |
