| Project Title : | Centre Approves Rs 1,400-cr Greenfield Highway Linking harbour to Amaravati ORR, Maharashtra |
| Company Name : | Private Company |
| Project Detail : | The Union government has granted in-principle approval for the construction of a greenfield national highway connecting the Nizampatnam fishing harbour to the proposed Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR). The 48-km highway, aimed at enhancing marine exports and promoting regional tourism, is expected to cost around Rs 1,400 crore. Of this, Rs 300 crore has been earmarked for land acquisition, while the rest will be used for the construction of the highway and associated infrastructure. A consultancy agency, after conducting an extensive feasibility study, has proposed four possible alignments for the highway. The highway will traverse rivers, canals, and a railway line at 24 locations. To manage these crossings, the plan includes the construction of a rail over bridge (ROB) and multiple high-level bridges. Additionally, the highway is expected to enhance tourist access to popular coastal spots like Suryalanka and Bapatla beaches, further driving regional development. Local MP T Krishna Prasad emphasised that the project will significantly uplift the backward coastal region, and secure better prices to farmers through improved export logistics. |
