| Project Detail : | Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Corporate Affairs, Harsh Malhotra, laid the foundation stone for five vehicular underpasses—Baghnath, Ken Union Chowk, Fazilnagar, Salemgarh, and Patheria - a Rs 111-crore initiative in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. The project spans a total length of 5.4 km and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. Its primary objective is to alleviate traffic congestion, improve road safety, and reduce travel time and fuel consumption. During his visit, the Minister also inspected the under-construction 75-km Gorakhpur Ring Road, with a project cost of Rs 1,780 crore. He emphasised the need to expedite the remaining 26 km to ensure timely completion, and also reviewed ongoing projects under National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Highlighting the importance of infrastructure in economic development, the Minister stressed enhanced connectivity between major religious and cultural hubs like Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Varanasi. Projects such as city ring roads are expected to significantly reduce urban traffic congestion and boost regional mobility. |
