| Project Detail : | The Gondegaon open cast mine (OCM) has a production target of 3.5 million tonne for the current financial year and is said to be on track to meet this goal. Chairman of Coal India, P Prasad, along with Director (Business Development), Debasish Nanda, conducted an inspection of the Gondegaon Open Cast Mine (OCM) in Maharashtra, operated by Western Coalfields (WCL). The visit was marked by a review of the mine’s operations and a felicitation ceremony for outstanding employees. The inspection highlighted the ongoing commitment of Coal India to operational efficiency and employee motivation in its subsidiaries. Earlier in the day, the Chairman a participated in the seminar ‘Progressive Resource Innovation for Sustainable Mining’ (PRISM) 2025, organised by the Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI) in Nagpur. Addressing the gathering, he urged for spearheading innovation, with a strong focus on research and development to support a diversified and sustainable mining future. He also reiterated the mining sector’s importance, saying it remains instrumental in powering India’s economic development. |
