Project Title : | Government Receives 70 Applications under Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme in India. |
Company Name : | Private Company |
Project Detail : | The government has received 70 applications for its Rs 23,000-crore Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), launched on 01 May, 2025, to boost domestic production of essential electronic components. According to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the response has been “tremendous,” with 80 percent of applications coming from small and medium enterprises (SMEs). While the Minister did not disclose company names, sources indicated that major players like Tata Electronics, Dixon Technologies, and Foxconn have shown interest. The scheme aims to address India's widening demand-supply gap in the electronics sector, which is projected to grow to USD 248 billion by 2030, against a forecasted $500 billion electronics production demand, as per the Electronic Industries Association of India (Elcina). Out of the Rs 22,805 crore allocated, Rs 21,093 crore will go toward sub-assemblies such as camera modules, multi-layered printed circuit boards (PCBs), and passive components. The remaining Rs 1,712 crore is set aside for parts and capital goods. Products are categorized under Category A (e.g., display modules, camera modules) and Category B (e.g., lithium-ion cells, IT hardware). Most projects will follow the EPC model, supporting India’s goal of reducing electronics import dependency. |
