| Project Detail : | India’s cumulative wind power capacity surpassed the 50 GW milestone in March 2025, marking a major achievement for the country’s renewable energy sector. The surge was driven by fresh installations of 4,151 MW in FY25, making it the second highest yearly addition after 5,400 MW recorded in 2016-17. Among the states, Karnataka led with the highest capacity addition of 1,331.49 MW during the year, bringing its total wind capacity to 7,351 MW. Tamil Nadu followed with 1,136.37 MW added, reinforcing its status as one of the top wind energy states with a cumulative 11,739 MW. Gujarat, however, retained its position as the state with the largest total installed wind capacity at 12,677 MW, including 954.76 MW added in the same financial year. With policy support and awareness of sustainable energy, the wind sector is poised for accelerated growth in the coming years. |
