Company Name : Cabinet Committee On Economic Affairs
Project Detail :The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the Rs 1,332 crore doubling project for 104-km Tirupati-Pakala-Katpadi railway line, spanning across Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, and also 19.2 km Zirakpur Bypass project.

The infrastructure initiative aims to enhance connectivity to the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple and other major pilgrimage and tourist sites such as Sri Kalahasti Shiva Temple, Kanipakam Vinayaka Temple, and Chandragiri Fort. According to a spokesperson from Indian Railways, the project will benefit approx.14 lakh people across three districts in both States and improve rail access for around 400 villages.

The route plays a key role in the movement of freight including coal, cement, agricultural produce, and minerals. The doubling of the railway line is expected to handle an additional freight load of four MTPA, thereby strengthening the economic throughput of the region. The project will also expand the Indian Railways’ network by an additional 113 km.

The six-lane bypass project, to be constructed on a hybrid annuity mode at a cost of approx. Rs 1,878 crore, will connect NH-7 (Zirakpur-Patiala) with NH-5 (Zirakpur-Parwanoo) across Punjab and Haryana. It aims to ease traffic congestion in Zirakpur, Panchkula, and nearby areas by diverting traffic from Patiala, Delhi, and Mohali Aerocity, while offering direct connectivity to Himachal Pradesh.
