Project Title : | RECPDCL transfers three ISTS transmission SPVs to PGCIL |

Project Detail : | REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL), a subsidiary of REC under the Ministry of Power, handed over three project-specific special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for ISTS transmission projects to Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) on 24 March 2025. The SPVs - Banaskantha Transco, Kurnool-IV Transmission, and Rajasthan V Power Transmission, were transferred following a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process. PGCIL emerged as the transmission service provider (TSP) for these projects, which will be developed on a build, own, operate & transfer (BOOT) basis. The Banaskantha Transco project includes the augmentation of transformation capacity at the Banaskantha (Raghanesda) Pooling Station (GIS) with 2×500 MVA, 400/220 kV ICTs and associated works, costing Rs 143.35 crore. The Kurnool-IV Transmission project involves a 4×1500 MVA, 765/400 kV and 4×500 MVA, 400/220 kV Kurnool-IV Pooling Station near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. It also includes 765 kV transmission lines spanning 375 km from Kurnool-IV to Bidar and 127 km from Kurnool-IV to Kurnool-III, with a total estimated cost of Rs 4,727.05 crore. The Rajasthan V Power Transmission project focuses on power evacuation from the Sirohi substation (two GW) and the common evacuation of power from Sirohi PS (two GW) and Merta-II PS (two GW). The estimated cost is Rs 4,736.23 crore. The implementation period for all three projects is 24 months. |
