| Project Detail : | The long-awaited Coimbatore airport expansion is moving forward, with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) floating a ?29 crore tender for a 16.7 km precast boundary wall on newly acquired land. The project is expected to be completed in 456 days. The expansion, planned in two phases, includes a new passenger terminal, cargo terminal, and air traffic control-cum-technical building. The runway will be extended from 2,990 meters to 3,810 meters, significantly increasing flight capacity. The new terminal will feature 20 aerobridges and 10 Multiple Apron Ramp Systems, up from the current four aerobridges. The master plan also outlines additional infrastructure, including a bus stand, multilevel car parking, a new approach road, and three hotels. |
