Project Detail : | Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Union Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal jointly launched India’s first PM MITRA mega textiles Park (Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Park) in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu on 22 March, 2023. An MoU was signed to this effect was signed. As many as eleven firms have also signed MoUs to establish their units with a total investment of 1,231 crore in the park, which will come up on 1,052 acres at E. Kumaralingapuram village. It will offer plug and-play facilities as part of an integrated value chain, and it is expected to generate 6,315 jobs Chief minister M K Stalin stated that Tamil Nadu accounts for one-third of the country’s handloom production, and the investment of Rs 2,000 crore will include a subsidy of Rs 500 crore provided by the Union government. Once fully operational, it will generate employment opportunities for two lakh youngsters Further assistance from the Central government is sought for a new textile park at Salem, through Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP) and integrated processing development scheme (IPDS) Union Minister for commerce and industry and textiles Piyush Goyal had informed that seven PM MITRA Parks are coming up in different parts of the country. These parks are expected to attract 70,000 crore investments and provide jobs for 20 lakh people, and expand India’s export competitiveness |
