| Project Detail : | The National Highway Authority of India has launched the 75-km long Jodhpur ring road project involving ?1,161 crore investment. It is aimed at linking all the five highways connecting the city with Jaipur, Nagaur, Jaisalmer, Barmer and Pali, and decongest traffic on the roads by allowing heavy traffic to bypass the city The project was initially started in December 2018 and after being stalled for various reasons, it has been resumed now. The new contractor has been engaged on the condition to complete the remaining work within the same budget. Given this condition and the exponential surge in the prices of raw materials since the pandemic, it appears difficult but the officers of NHAI have assured that the work will be completed in two years in two phases. The first phase will connect Dangiawas on Jodhpur-Jaipur highway to Nagaur Road while the second phase will complete by connecting Nagaur Road back to Dangiawas. The new contractor has already started the work of the first phase measuring 45 km, while the tender for the second phase for construction of a 30 km patch has also been invited and a letter of award has been issued. The entire 4 lane ring road will have two ROBs and 16 flyovers along with an underpass and two bridges besides two toll plazas |
