Objectives and Scope |
The Project will (i) diversify Thailand's energy mix through the addition of renewable energy capacity, helping the country to achieve its target of 25% of primary commercial energy coming from renewable energy by 2021, (ii) demonstrate the viability and sustainability of a large-scale private sector wind project in Thailand, and iii) install and operate a wind power plant with capacity of 7.5 MW |

Linkage to Country/Regional Strategy |
The country partnership strategy for Thailand 2007 2011 focuses on three core strategic areas of partnership infrastructure development, environmentally sustainable development and capital market development. The government's Alternative Energy Development Plan 2012-2021 notes the immense energy potential of wind power in Thailand and the energy imports that can be avoided through its use with private sector investment. |
