Project Detail:
The proposal involves Completion of balance construction works mainly including flooring, glazing, electrical works, MEP works etc. of New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) at VSI Airport, Port Blair.
The project activity is categorized as category ‘A’ under item 7 (a) of the Schedule to the Gazette Notification dated Sept. 14 th , 2006 and its subsequent amendments for obtaining prior Environmental Clearance.
The passenger traffic at Port Blair airport during 2008-09 was 4.8 lac per annum. AAI therefore felt that expansion of existing or construction of new terminal building was essential. After detailed deliberation, AAI decided to take up the construction of New Integrated Terminal Building Complex (NITB) for handling peak hour traffic of 1200 passengers (600 domestic & 600 international passengers). As a recommended site for tourists, an Integrated Terminal Building was proposed which would serve both the Domestic as well as International passengers.
Total Project Cost: Cr. 467.81
