Project detail:
Government of India has decided to develop Delhi - Amritsar – Katra Expressway to improve theefficiency of freight & transport movement in the region. The project being discussed under thisreport concerns the Development of Punjab Section from Km 135+056 to Km 397+712 of Delhi- Katra expressway including Green field Connectivity to Amritsar (starts at Km 306+000 of Delhi- Katra Expressway and ends at Amritsar - Ajnala Road NH-354 for a total length of 99 Km). TheProject is planned as 4 lanes highway expandable to 8 lanes with provision of service road forfuture. Salient features of the Project.
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), an autonomous agency of the Government ofIndia, is responsible for management of the network of national highways across the country. It isa nodal agency of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India.NHAI vision is to meet the nation’s need for the provision and maintenance of national highwaysnetwork to global standards and to meet user expectations in time-bound and cost-effectivemanner, within the strategic policy framework set by the Government of India and thuspromoting economic well-being and quality of life of the people.
Applicability of various environmental regulations and guidelines was reviewed for the project andits allied activities. As per the EIA notification, 2006, the project is covered under serial no. 7(f) ascategory ‘A’. The proposed project has been scoped for Terms of Reference (ToR) vide FileNo.10-18/2020-IA.III dated 17th March, 2020 and Further amended vide letter dated 23rdSeptember, 2020 (Annexure 1.2). ToR compliance is presented as Annexure 1.3 of this report.Project has been notified as New National Highway NE-5 and NE-5A vide MoRTH notification.Copy of the notification is attached as Annexure 1.4 of this report.
