Project Detail:
The company intends to develop the Outer Harbour in an area of 697 Ha (458.61 Ha reclamation area + 189 Ha of port basin + 49.39 Ha CRZ-IA). During the initial project feasibility, there were mangroves present adjacent to the eastern boundary of the proposed Outer Harbour Area at a distance of 50m. Now, 49.39 Ha (34.36 Ha Mangroves + 15.03 Ha 50m Mangrove Buffer Zone) is forming part of proposed project area and the same will be conserved as good engineering and environment management practice. Only utility corridor which is essential for port operation will be developed in this area over piles/stilts as permissible by the CRZ Notification, 2011. The overall cargo handling capacity of the port will be increased by 150 MMTPA in addition to the existing approved capacity of 84.1 MMTPA accounting to a total of 234 MMTPA.
Total capital cost for the proposed development is estimated to be Rs. 14030.50 Cr, including Contingencies @ 10% on Total base cost, and other miscellaneous charges.
The project will be started after obtaining all the regulatory approvals and the master plan development of Hazira Port will be completed over a period of 15 -20 years.
