| Project Detail : | The long-anticipated ropeway project at Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka is gaining momentum, with the district administration initiating the land acquisition process. A recent notification, dated 12 May, marks the start of acquiring around four acres at Madaku Hosahalli village, near the Kanive Basaveshwara Swamy temple. This location will host the ropeway’s lower terminal, including facilities such as parking for 200 cars, 100 two-wheelers, multiple buses, and a waiting area for over 500 people. In addition to the 281 sq. mtrs (about three guntas) set aside for the terminal, another three acres and 32 guntas will be acquired for constructing the ropeway corridor up the hill. The district administration has barred landowners from conducting any property transactions on the notified land. A 60-day window has been provided for filing objections. The ropeway, stretching 2.9 km, will be developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model on a design-build-finance-operate-transfer (DBFOT) basis.The project is to be developed by Damodar Ropeways and Infra and Ashoka BuildCon , which have formed a special purpose vehicle with Dynamicx Ropeway to execute the project. The Rs 93.4 crore project has already received forest department clearance and will be operated by a private firm for 30 years. |
