Project Detail :Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL), will establish 1 gigawatt (GW), of renewable energy capacity in Rajasthan. This is a pivotal step in the country’s journey to achieving a net zero emissions target by 2040

BPCL stated that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with Rajasthan’s government, to establish the renewable energy power station. However, it did not give any details about the investment or timeframe for the project

The ambitious goal to achieve ‘net zero’ Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2040 has been set by the company. It intends to increase its renewable portfolio to 1 GW of generating power by 2025, and 10 GW in 2040

The MoU was signed by Bhaskar A Sawant (IAS, Principal Secretary Department of Energy, Government of Rajasthan) and Shelly Abraham Head Renewable Energy, BPCL

BPCL has three oil refineries located in Mumbai, Kerala, and in Madhya Pradesh. They have a combined refining capability of approximately 38 million tonnes. There are also over 20,000 petrol pumps, 6,100 distributorships of LPG

It has drawn up a plan to provide electric vehicle charging stations at approximately 7,000 petrol pumps in the next five years
