Project Detail :Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and MSMEs Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 16 national highway projects with a total length of 504.32 km, worth Rs 7,476.57 crore in Uttar Pradesh on 26 November 2020

The national highway projects dedicated to the nation were -- widening to four-lane from Meerut to Bulandhshahar of NH-235 (61.19 km) worth Rs 2,407.91 crore; construction of four-lane Gorakhpur bypass from Jungal Kaudiya of NH-24 to Kaleshwar on NH-27 (17.66 km) worth Rs 866.00 crore; rehabilitation and up-gradation of NH-76 from Kabrai to Banda in district of Mahoba & Banda (37.00 km) worth Rs 215.16 crore; and rehabilitation and upgradation of NH-76 from Mau to Jasra in district of Chitrakoot & Prayagraj (53.55 km) worth Rs 218.94 crore

He also inaugurated rehabilitation and upgradation to four-lane of NH-96 from Pratapgarh to Prayagraj bypass in district of Pratapgarh & Prayagraj (34.70 km) worth Rs 599.35 crore; rehabilitation and upgradation of NH-730 from Barhani to Kataya in district of Siddharthnagar (35.00 km) worth Rs 209.10 crore; rehabilitation and upgradation of NH-730 from Bahraich to Shrawasti in district of Bahraich & Shrawasti (61.90 km) worth Rs 388.83 crore; and construction of ROB in lieu of COD crossing (LC no 79D) in Kanpur district worth Rs 50.74 crore

The foundation stones were laid for strengthening of NH-75E in the district of Sonebhadra from Madhya Pradesh/ Uttar Pradesh border to Uttar Pradesh/Jharkhand border (65.21 km) worth Rs 57.50 crore; strengthening of NH-75E in the district of Sonebhadra from Madhya Pradesh/ Uttar Pradesh border to Uttar Pradesh/ Jharkhand border (26.81 km) worth Rs 29.63 crore; widening & strengthening of NH-91A from Bharthana Chowk to Kudarkoot in district of Etawah & Auraiya (40.00 km) worth Rs 262.37 crore; and widening & strengthening of NH-135C from Drumandganj to Halia in district of Mirzapur (18.40 km) worth Rs 39.37 crore

The Minister also laid the foundation stones for widening & strengthening of NH-135C from Rampur to Bhadewara in the district of Prayagraj (15.00 km) worth Rs 76.23 crore; widening of NH-227Abetween Sikringanj & Gola in the district of Gorakhpur (nine km) worth Rs 37.52 crore; and widening of NH-730 between Tamkuhiraj & Padrauna in the district of Kushinagar (19.00 km) worth Rs 69.67 crore

Apart from this, work also commenced for construction of six-lane bridge parallel to the existing bridge on Ganga river on NH-96 in Phaphamau in the district of Prayagraj (9.90 km) worth Rs 1,948.25 crore

Around 3,700 km NH length worth Rs 42,000 crore has been added in Uttar Pradesh in the last six years. At present, there are over 11,389 km of NHs, and roads worth Rs 1.3 lakh crore are being constructed in the state

As much as Rs 26,000 crore have been disbursed towards land acquisition cost in the state during last three years. CRF works worth Rs 15,439 have been sanctioned since 2014. A total of Rs 4,628 crore have been released till 2019 under the scheme, while another over Rs 287 crore were sanctioned in 2020 and approved releasing Rs 280 crore on 29 November 2020

National highway works of 2,900 km worth Rs 65,000 crore will be completed in the state in FY21. Another 1,100 km length of Rs 14,000 croreare targeted to be awarded in FY21. Further, DPRs are under preparation for 3,500 km length at a cost of about Rs 50,000 crore. National highway works worth Rs two lakh crore are being undertaken in the state

the construction of 133 km four-lane greenfield project worth Rs 3,652 crore between Ghazipur-Ballia-Mazhighat is under consideration. DPR is also being prepared for the 98 km four-lane Prayagraj Ring road costing Rs 7,000 crore. It will be made in three phases, under Phase-I, a 27 km greenfield bypass from Dandupur to Sansor will be constructed at a cost of Rs 2,500 crore. This will include a 25 km bridge over river Ganga

Other projects under consideration include 74 km four-lane Sitarganj-Barelli; 228 km four-lane Mathura-Hathras-Badayun-Barelli; 81 km four-lane Agra-Aligarh; 87 km two-lane Agra-Jalesar with paved shoulders; 270 km two-four lane Shahjahanpur-Hardoi-Lucknow; 105 km four-lane widening Raibareli-Prayagraj; and 335 km Lucknow-Kanpur-Karvi-Chhatarpur-Sagar for Uttar Pradesh-Madhya Pradesh connectivity

These projects, on completion, will provide faster and hassle-free inter-state and inter-district connectivity, and strengthen tourism sector of the state. The projects are likely to generate a large number of employment and self-employment opportunities to the unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled manpower of the region

The Minister also called upon the state government to exempt toll plaza agreements from stamp duty. He also requested the state government to consider halving the utility shifting supervision charge from five percent to 2.5 percent on the lines being done by other states
