| Project Detail : | The German Development Bank (KFW) will provide Rs 960 crore to Uttarakhand for clean drinking water and cleaning of Ganga river The work in the first phase of the project will start from Haridwar and Rishikesh. A mission team of KFW met Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh in secretariat regarding this The mission team informed that the appraisal work at Haridwar and Rishikesh has been completed. The appraisal report will be presented to KFW There is a possibility of signing of an MoU between Ministry of Water Resources and KFW in December this year The German experts will supervise the construction of 15 sewage treatment plants (STPs) Modern technology will be used for providing clean drinking water. More cities will be taken up in the second phase of the project Singh informed the KFW mission team about the committment of the State Government to clean Ganga river before the next Kumbh Mela He requested that KFW should complete the project by 2020 adding that the state Government will support them |
