| Project Detail : | The local body has recently handed over the Vellalore road project to the National Highways wing of the state highways and now NHAI is building the road project together with Vellalore local body on a 60-acre land at investment of Rs.236 crore. In return the local body will get funds, which will be invested under the Smart Cities Mission. The National Highways wing was expected to take up the project under the National Corridors Efficiency Program Component of the Bharatmala Pariyojana scheme of the transport ministry, which will fund the project, not only for Coimbatore but for Salem and Madurai as well. But to decide on how much the project would cost, the engineers of the National Highways wing were studying the Corporation‘s detailed project report to see if they could go ahead with the same design and financial plan or change it. Only after they decide on the design, they would finalize the financial plan, whether to go in for a public-private partnership model or adopt other modes of road building |
