| Project Detail : | The development of road infrastructure in certain parts of the town is all set to begin, as Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has planned to spend a whopping amount of nearly Rs 250 crore on the work, here The GMADA has already floated tenders for development of road infrastructure in its virtually neglected sectors 76 to 80 at the cost of rupees six crores Tenders for re-carpeting the entire stretch of 200-feet road from TDI City to Airport Chowk have also been floated by the authority. A hefty sum of Rs 23 crore would be spent on the re-carpeting work of the Airport Road, here Besides, GMADA is also in the process of 10 km extension of Airport Road to connect the Mohali town with New Chandigarh (Mullanpur) via Sunny Enclave by spending around Rs 200 crores GMADA Chief Administrator Ravi Bhagat said some other road stretches in developing sectors of the town were also to be constructed soon Bhagat also admitted that the Airport Road needed to be re-carpeted as there were number of huge potholes were present on it “Being a widen road, people tend to drive fast there. Due to presence of potholes, there is always a risk of accidents. So we are going to re-carpet the entire stretch in question,” said Bhagat adding that the tenders have been floated in this regard and soon the work would be kicked off in this direction “Apart from repair of existing roads, we will also construct the missing parts on these roads. There are a number of roads, which are incomplete due to land disputes in the area. Now, all these roads will be completed while the rest will be repaired. We have already floated the tenders for the purpose”, said Bhagat For the 10 kilometre extension of Airport Road to connect the Mohali town to New Chandigarh (Mullanpur) via Sunny Enclave, the land acquisition process is said to be underway “The project (extension of the road) will be completed in the earliest possible time. We are hopeful of completion of acquisition of land by the end of this month. After that the rest of work would be done in earliest possible time to complete it”, said Bhagat GMADA is in process of acquiring e around 140 acres of land of several villages including Desumajra, Ranimajra, Jandpur, Singhpur, Daun, Palheri and Hoshiarpur under the project |
