The TNPCB has continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations in Koyambedu, Royapuram, Perungudi and Kodungaiyur. These stations also have capability for weather monitoring and wind directions, speed and ambient temperature. The TNPCB in association with CPCB has established 10 real time ambient noise monitoring sensors at Egmore, T. Nagar, Perambur, Guindy, Triplicane, Pallikaranai, Velachery, Washermanpet, Anna Nagar and Sowcarpet. “It is envisaged to install 18 such sensors so that there is complete coverage in all 15 zones of the Chennai Corporation and potentially polluted locations,” said an official |
