Project Title :Road (Patradevi-Bambolim) Project In Goa
Company Name : National Highways Authority Of India.
Project Detail :As part of the Union ministry of road transport and highways' (MoRTH) plan to widen NH 17 (NH 66) from Panvel to Kanyakumari, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced its plans to acquire 4.01 lakh square metres of land from Patradevi to Bambolim. Notifying the acquisition, NHAI has allowed landowners and others to submit their objections within 21 days

While NHAI will acquire land under sub-section (1) of Section 3A of the National Highways Act from Torxem in Pernem to Cujira in Tiswadi, it will utilize land acquired earlier in Porvorim to build elevated corridors

"Care has been taken not to disturb too many existing dwellings. We had acquired land at Porvorim and will build elevated structures for a stretch of two to three kilometres," a PWD official overseeing the project said

The 42.93km-stretch of the national highway will be widened at a cost of Rs 2,237 crores and is expected to reduce the time taken to cross from one end of Goa to the other

The land is required for building, widening, maintaining, managing and operating NH-17. Any person interested in the said land may within 21 days object to the use of land for this purpose, deputy secretary for National Highways Development Project, Rajesh Gupta, said

Private land along with comunidade and government land will be acquired at Ugem, Poroscodem, Dhargalim, Pernem, Colvale, Mapusa, Guirim, Sucorro, Salvador do Mundo, Pilerne, Penha de Franca, Merces, Murda, Calapor, Cujira, and Bastora

"We are giving very good compensation as per market rate, which will be between Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 per square metre," PWD minister Ramkrishna Dhavalikar told

The compensation has yet to be finalized and disbursed for those whose land is being acquired and the procedure expected to take a while, PWD officials added

Nitin Gadkari, Union minister of road transport and highways, had laid the foundation stone for the construction of the four-lane cement-concrete road from Patradevi to Bambolim in December just before the state assembly elections were declared

"Tenders have been floated and bids have been received but the work is yet to be awarded," said another PWD official from the National Highways and Bridges division. The project will be undertaken in 15 parts of which four parts are in Goa and 11 are in Maharashtra

MoRTH has already commenced four-laning of the national highway from the South Goa border to Kundapur on a design, build, operate, transfer (DBFOT) basis. The contract for this particular section has been awarded to IRB WestCoastTollway Pvt Ltd
